Always On vs Round the World: Which ROIA MOTO Tool Kit Do You Need?
Every ROIA MOTO tool kit comes in two versions: Always On and Round the World.
Both are matched to your motorcycle. Both come in the same compact tool roll.
So which one do you need?
In this guide, we'll show you what makes the two kits different, and why riders who plan real trips usually end up choosing Round the World.
Examples are from the Honda CRF300L kits. Tools and sizes are matched to each bike, but the idea is the same on every model.
The Short Answer
- Always On: the essentials for the most common problems.
- Round the World: everything in Always On, plus the tools to go much further: tire work, spark plugs, more sizes and a complete teardown of your bike.
Our advice: if you're unsure, choose Round the World.
You can always leave tools at home. You can't use tools you didn't bring.

What Both Kits Have in Common
Both versions share the same thinking:
- Matched to your motorcycle: no guesswork, no tools you'll never use, nothing extra to carry
- Premium spanners: Asahi Lightool from Japan, extremely light and winners of a design award
- Extensions and a universal joint for bolts you can't reach straight on
- Smart adapters that make one ratchet do the work of two
- A tool roll with magnets that keeps your bolts safe
That covers the jobs that actually stop a ride:
- Removing and refitting both wheels
- Adjusting the chain
- Taking off seat, side panels and skid plate
- Tightening everything that shakes loose off-road
Small Details That Make a Big Difference
These are the things you only learn from riding.
1. Torque on both sides
A wheel axle needs holding on one side while you turn the nut on the other.
Our adapters have a hole in the middle. Pass an extension through it, add a socket, and you have a second wrench. One ratchet, both sides.
2. The universal joint
Spark plugs, exhaust nuts and the rear shock bolts are rarely in a straight line.
A universal joint lets you work at an angle. Some bolts simply can't be reached without one.
3. Magnets in the tool roll
Bolts stay in the roll, not on the ground.
And if one falls behind the frame, take a magnet out, attach it to an extension and fish it out.
Always On: The Essentials
Always On is the focused choice.
It has everything above, plus robust steel tire spoons. That's enough to remove wheels, adjust the chain and tighten what vibrates loose.
Good for:
- Weekend trips and day rides
- Regions with workshops nearby
- Riders who want to keep it simple
Round the World: Built to Go Further
Round the World is made for riders who want to be ready for almost anything.
What it adds:
- Forged aluminum tire spoons: strong and much lighter than steel
- Tire bead retainer: Motorrad ABENTEUER called it "a small part that can be worth its weight in gold"
- Magnetic spark plug socket
- More sizes: more spanner and bit socket sizes than Always On, including a stubby combination spanner for tight spots
- FlexBit hex bit inserts for even more flexibility
That's enough to take your motorcycle apart completely. It's the all-round kit.
And it's organized for the road. Wheel tools, bead retainer and valve core tool sit together in one pocket, so a tire job starts in one place. The spark plug socket and universal joint, which you rarely need, have their own pocket and stay out of the way.
Good for:
- Long trips and remote regions
- Riders who change tubes themselves
- Anyone who wants to carry one kit and be covered
Everything Has Its Place
Both kits share the same tool roll:
- Tight spanner pockets that hold every tool in place on the road
- Elastic loops for your hand pump or trail jack
- A flat mesh pocket, ideal for a tube patch kit
- A space for your name and contact details
- A built-in ruler
- Velcro closure, so you roll it up and go. No extra straps
Which Kit Is Right for You?
Choose Always On if you:
- Ride short or medium trips
- Stay close to workshops
- Want a focused set of essentials
Choose Round the World if you:
- Plan long trips or travel through remote areas
- Want to do a tire change yourself
- Want one kit that covers almost every repair
The editors of Motorrad ABENTEUER gave the same advice when they tested our kit: order the big set and thin it out for shorter trips.
