ROIA MOTO Tested by Motorrad ABENTEUER: What the Magazine Said About Our Tool Kit
We're proud to share some news:
ROIA MOTO was tested and featured in Motorrad ABENTEUER, one of the best-known adventure motorcycle magazines in the German-speaking world.
The feature is in the June/July 2026 issue (4/2026), page 72, in the "Ausprobiert" (tried and tested) section, under the headline "Welt-Werkstatt" ("World Workshop").
For a small brand from Wörgl, Austria, that means a lot.
What the Magazine Said About Our Philosophy
The article opens with a rule we live by:
"Grundregel für Bordwerkzeug: So viel wie nötig, so wenig wie möglich. Meist führt da kein Weg am Selbstzusammenstellen vorbei. Es sei denn, man fährt eines der 16 von Roia Moto kuratierten Motorräder."*
"Basic rule for on-board tools: as much as necessary, as little as possible. Usually there's no way around putting your own kit together. Unless you ride one of the 16 motorcycles curated by Roia Moto."*
– Motorrad ABENTEUER 4/2026, p. 72
* At the time of the test, we offered kits for 16 motorcycles. Today there are 20.
That's exactly why we build bike-specific kits.
What the Magazine Tested
The editors ordered the "Round the World" kit for a Honda CRF 300 and added:
- The Trail Stand
- The Hand Pump
- A tube patch kit
In other words: the same compact roadside workshop we've been building for riders in over 45 countries.
What They Liked
"Die Zusammenstellung wirkt gelungen, alle wichtigen Größen sind dabei."
"The selection feels well put together, all the important sizes are included."
"Ein Kleinteil, das Gold wert sein kann: Ein Reifenwulsthalter ersetzt die dritte Hand."
"A small part that can be worth its weight in gold: a tire bead holder replaces a third hand."
More of what stood out:
- Tools with accurate fit and a long life (the tested kit used parts from renowned brands like Proxxon and Asahi, more on that below)
- A weight-optimized open-end wrench the editors singled out
- Both kits weigh just over 2 kg
- A sturdy nylon bag with slots and zip pockets that keeps everything organized, and also holds the trail stand and pump
That's what we aim for: everything you need, nothing you don't.
What Has Changed Since the Test: Our Own Tools, Made in Taiwan
The magazine tested the kit with parts from Proxxon and Asahi.**
Since then, we've taken the next step: we now design and manufacture our tools ourselves in Taiwan.
Why?
- Full control over fit, quality and weight
- Tools designed for adventure riding, not taken from a general catalog
- The same goal the editors praised: accurate sizes, long life, as light as possible
The principle stays the same: everything you need, nothing you don't. Only now it's our own design from start to finish.
** Proxxon is no longer our supplier.
The Honest Part
A good test also mentions what takes effort. The editors did, and we're glad they did:
- The hand pump takes some elbow grease. In the magazine's words, it works, "but just as much as necessary."
- A short lever is no match for a factory-tight rear axle nut. Roadside conditions are not a home workshop.
They're right on both. A pump and a lever that weigh almost nothing can't work like workshop tools. That's the trade-off for a kit that fits on the bike, never runs out of air and never fails because a cartridge is empty.

Their Tip: Order the Big Set, Then Thin It Out
The editors' advice: order the big set and thin it out for shorter trips.
That fits our way of thinking:
- Start with everything
- Take only what your bike and trip really need
- Leave the rest at home
They also suggest adding a few common spares, such as control cables, a spark plug or some epoxy putty, to be well equipped.

Two Versions, Now for 20 Motorcycles
The kit comes in two levels:
- Always On: for the more common breakdowns
- Round the World: for more demanding trips and further eventualities (the tire lever is forged aluminium instead of steel)
Both are currently available within the EU. Prices and availability can differ in other countries, so check the product page for your region.
When the article was written, we offered kits for 16 motorcycles. Today there are 20, and we keep adding new ones.

Pozdrawiam
